The big round sun was still melting, slowly dripping down the sky into a beautiful orange-red sunset.
Kamau looked presentable, clean - not stereotypically Outlander-ish as she walked with her tail between her legs toward Pride Rock... as if to surrender? Her heavy-lidded icy eyes were almost teary, and she seemed almost hesitant to set her first paw on the bottom rocks of the mountainous structure before her. Softly but still projecting her voice, she called for her friend. "Vitani?"
She looked helpless. Aw, poor Kamau. She looked absolutely sorry for a lifetime of distrusting her fellow lions at Pride Rock. Kamau raised her head and eyes to look around, still not daring to touch the rocks of their territory out of respect. She edged around the rock, though, looking still for her friend from cubhood. "Vitani, where are you?" Her tail continued to drag behind her, a pitiful sight for such a strong lioness.

► Hunter of the Day ◄***Vitani lazily looked up as she heard someone calling her name. Who was that? She got up and stretched her arms out in front of her, letting a yawn go as she did. She then shook herself and made out of the den.
"Vitani, where are you?"
Who said that? She leapt out onto PrideRock and looked down on the Pridelands, scanning every bit. She couldn't see anything, until her eyes fell upon a small figure below the rocks. She jumped down and got nearer for a closer look. Was it...Kamau?
"Kamau? What are you doing here?" she asked faintly. Not too long ago her friend had apologized, but Vitani didn't think she'd see her again so soon. What did she want?***

Kamau was gazing up at Pride Rock in waiting, and when she saw her old friend with a halo of orange sunset around her, she seemed very meek.
"Vitani, I... I want to ask you and your pride if I can stay here in the Pridelands. The other lions criticized me and turned against me for apologizing to you, and you're all I have anymore. Even Jaali hates me now."
Her eyes teared up even more, until her tear ducts couldn't hold the water back. She didn't know if she was welcome to climb the rocks to find consolence in her friend, so she stayed on the ground looking up at her as if she was in a courtroom being judged. She leaned back on her haunches to sit, lowering her head for a moment and sniffing to compose herself as the tears ran down her face. {Such a talented actress!}
"I've let go of my past and I am ready to forgive every one of the Pridelanders if only you'll take me in."

► Hunter of the Day ◄***Vitani listened as Kamau apologized once again and begged to be welcomed at Priderock. She sat and pondered this for a while. She was friends with Kamau ever since she could remember...Even as cubs, they played and froliced and pounced on Nuka unsuspectantly, and chased termites. But she couldn't help remembering how fiercly she had snapped at her after the battle, calling her ruthless names...And now, her fate was in her hands. What should she do? What could she do? This was what the Pridelanders stood for - being one. And if one Outlander wanted to be part of that...what about the rest? This is what Simba taught. And it was how he'd want it.
Vitani padded up and nudged Kamau to her feet. "Stop drooping like a dead flower and come in," she said, a teasing glint in her eye. She couldn't help a feeling of relief as she led Kamau to the den; her old, pasttime friend was finally back.***

Kamau raised her brows high in a wide grin. And it wasn't fake, either. She would savor the time with her old friend up until she had to off her... oh, damn. There was a flaw in her plan. When the time came to do that, there was no way she'd want to. Although her mind was racing, she kept up her facade very well. She lifted a dainty paw to wipe away her tears. "Really? Thank you so much, Vitani!" She was full of mock joy {and some that was real} as she stood up and padded along with Vitani up Pride Rock to the den.
"Will I need to talk to Kovu, then? I feel like I owe every lion who lives here a kiss on the paws or something for being such a... well, bitch."
Aww, Vitani. What was Kamau going to do about this? She'd forgotten just how close she was to her old friend, not only socially, but it seemed to be spirit-deep. She didn't want to kill her or see her harmed. If she could find some way to talk her into joining her and Werevu and Luna, how great would that be?

► Hunter of the Day ◄***Vitani shook her head as they emerged into the den. "Kovu won't mind...It's what Simba would have wanted." She lead her friend to the very back and sat, looking her in the eye. She found true joy there; Kamau really was happy to be back! "Tell me, Kamau! What happened in the Outlands when I left?" She let a glint in her eye be seen. "Is Werevu still as puny as he used to be, when I chased him from sunrise to sundown?" She had loved bugging the little cub; but no doubt he was larger now. He had shown potential when he was "playing" with her, but as far as she was concerned, he didn't matter now. Kamau mattered - and she was back!***

Kamau listened intently to what Vitani had to say, sitting before her and looking understandingly into her friend's eyes. She giggled a little bit about Vitani's questions. "Well, the Outlands were exceptionally boring. And since there weren't any good huntresses like you there, and I was busy sulking, nobody got any food. There are bunch of lazy, nappy lions over there." Kamau paused in her words when she came to the question about Werevu. Her heart kind of pounded and she managed to suppress a dumb grin. "No, Werevu got a lot bigger. He's a traitorous jerk like we knew he'd grow up to be. Nuka never comes out of OutRock half the time, so I never got to jump on him. But they all hate me now." She glanced calmly around the den, getting familiar with her surroundings. Her thoughts eased over momentarily.

Valerius had been going to sleep early at the Priderock. He'd had a rough night before, barely sleeping at all. He'd spent most of the night pacing back and forth, or having nightmares. The same nightmares he always had, just like usual. Nightmares about his past, about his mother.
He still wasn't able to sleep very well and had already woken up again. He cursed under his breathe about his insomnia. Every night he went through the same old shit, getting up every half an hour to make sure everyone was safe. To make sure there were no invaders in his sleep that wanted to hurt the Pride. Although he wasn't exactly proud to be a Pridelander, he still couldn't help but be protective of them, whether he felt out of place or not.
He heard voices speaking just outside the den. He lazily got up, his fur sticking up in anger at them for waking him. He was cranky when he was that tired, especially after having nightmares. He recognized Vitani's voice, but not the other lioness's voice..who was that? He knew almost every lioness...at least in the Pridelands he did.
He left the den, coming into the slowly fading light. He snarled at the two lionesses. He was right, one was Vitani, but he who was the other one? She seemed familiar from SOMEWHERE....and then he placed her. She was the Outlander who'd snuck into the Pridelands with Bakari. His claws unsheathed at the sight of Vitani acting all friendly like a pal to the invader. He didn't care if they'd once been best friends, if this lioness had acted like she was apologizing. He didn't buy it, and he didn't trust her.
At first he'd thought it might be nice for Vitani to have her old friend back; he thought it'd make her happy. But it didn't make him happy to have an Outlander so close to home. He knew that was so hypocritical of him since he felt angry over the Outlanders not welcoming him in, but he didn't care. He didn't trust this lioness (though he didn't really trust much of anyone). Maybe his lack of sleep had something to do with it, but he was PISSED OFF right about now.
"VITANI! What are you doing allowing this Outlander into our pride? How do we know she's not a conniving backstabber?" he spit his words out, showing his anger.

► Hunter of the Day ◄***Vitani swung her head over to the direction of Valerius, who looked particularly angry. His fur was fluffed out, his eyes into narrow slits and his tail was sticking straight out into the air. His claws were unsheathed, and Vitani began to wonder what could have ruffled his fur so badly when she saw where his line of vision was aiming at: Kamau.
"VITANI! What are you doing allowing this Outlander into our pride? How do we know she's not a conniving backstabber?"
Vitani let out a soft snort; not so much because Valerius was angry with her for bringing Kamau into Priderock, but because of the manner he spoke with. "What are you doing?" "Conniving backstabber?" Give her a break. I think she's had enough messing around with in the past year or so.
"I know because she was my friend," she retorted, flicking her tail at Valerius. "And she wants to join the Pridelands. Isn't that what we're all about? Coming together as one?" She lashed her tail in annoyance that Valerius had either forgotten or ignored that fact. He, after all, wasn't a true born Pridelander; but Kovu didn't leave him out in the Savanna to starve to death. In fact, he had accepted him with open arms. Couldn't he do the same for Kamau?***

Kamau's icy blue sultry sights turned to Valerius. Surprisingly, she took what he said very lightly and giggled it off. She had the innocence of a young cub when she spoke to him. "You can trust me, Valerius. I've never had the same carnal mind as the rest of the Outlanders. And anyway, Vitani knows me better than anyone. Relax."
A conniving backstabber?! No, not me! Kamau smiled at her company and her tail flicked subtly. She tried her best not to be jittery with excitement and not let her eyes wander around the inside of Pride Rock until later when nobody was looking at her. It was wonderful to think that someday her Jaali might be the king of this bountiful land, all thanks to Werevu's rebellion. She was going to make him so proud.
{{ooc: When is the plan gonna happen? This is getting a little drawn out, I'm ready for some action! [: }}
