This is a list of common roleplay terms with their definitions. If there are any words you think need to be added, please fill out the form at the bottom of this post.[/color]
Advanced: A roleplay a high level with very experienced roleplayers.
Archived Threads: These are closed or dead threads that have been sent to the Roleplay Archive. If your thread has been sent here and you want it returned, PM an admin.
Cannon Character: Premade characters, usually from whatever show/movie/book/etc the roleplay is about. For example, since we are a Lion King roleplay, one of our cannon characters is Timon.
Closed Thread: A thread that has been finished, where every character has left. Threads like this will be sent to the archive.
Chatspeak: Talking generally used in chatrooms, with improper spelling and grammar. This includes shortening words (ie. you to u, know to no, etc).
Godmoding: There are several types of godmoding, but the basics are, when someone is godmoding, they either have an invincible character, an unrealistic character, having your character things they cannot possibly know, or having your character control another.
Literate: A literate person has a good grasp on the English language, with little to no spelling and grammar errors. Their posts are usually around ten or more lines long.
Mary-Sue: An unrealistic perfect character that has no flaws. There are also Gary-Sue's, the male counterpart.
Newbie: Somebody new to roleplaying, usually not a derogatory term.
nOOb: Somebody new to roleplaying, usually used as an insult.
OOC: Out of Character. This is real life discussion, not roleplay. When you are speaking OOC, you should identify this by saying something like "[ooc// Hi guys! What's up?]".
Open: A thread that anyone can join.
Original: An original character is one that you have made up (as opposed to a cannon character).
Powerplaying: When you control another person's character without their permission. For example, "Valerius slashed at the rogue lion's throat, killing him." This is not allowed.
Private: A thread where only certain characters are allowed to enter. It will usually say the characters' names that are allowed to enter in the title.
Semi-Literate: A person who has decent grammar and spelling, but it's not perfect, or they don't always use it. A step above nOOb, but a step below literate.
Starter: The first post in a thread, that starts the roleplay. Also known as the introduction.
