Kanai padded through the tall savannah grass, sad, orange eyes staring at the ground as she thought of her mother. It had been two years since her death, but Kanai still missed her. She looked behind her at Priderock, and managed a smile. At least she had a home now…that would have been what her mother would’ve wanted. Kanai sighed, turned, and continued walking, shaking her head to try and get the thought of her mother out of her head.
Kanai soon came to the hunting grounds. Perhaps hunting would take her mind off things. Besides, she felt useless just standing around, crying over her mother.
She knew that since it was the dry season, most of the animals would be by the waterhole, but she knew that a lot of lions hung out there, and she didn’t really feel like running into any of the other lions. So, she stayed in the hunting grounds, and sniffed for prey. She got lucky, and caught the scent of a small herd not too far away. She ran quietly toward the scent, all the while keeping a look out for other lions.
