Valerius Valerius quietly padded towards the Great River, stopping at it's edge. He bowed his head to drink. He was alone. He hadn't felt like bothering a lioness so early in the morning, and he figured that his adopted parents, Kovu and Kiara, would either be busy with their duties to the pride, or busy spending time with each other or his 'sister' Riora.
He knew that he came last, after Riora and the pride; he expected it. He should be lucky to be alive, to be living at the Priderock. How could he expect even more then that?
Yet, he yearned for more. He wanted a true place in the family, one that would be respected. He knew he would never be king of the Pridelands, so he could never gain respect that way. Riora would be the queen, because she was Kovu's blood.
Sad and lonely, he gazed out past the river towards the Outlands. He'd often thought they had a certain allure to them, despite their poor living conditions and even worse reputation. They reminded him of...well, it didn't matter what they reminded him of, because he was determined to move on from his past.
He wondered what was out there. He'd only seen a small bit of the Outlands, when Kovu found him dying in them. He'd never lived there, though. That's just where he wound up. He wanted to see more, but was hesitant to disobey Kovu and Kiara. He knew he could be seriously injured there, and he'd be no match for the king or queen. He'd been extremely lucky that they hadn't found and killed him before Kovu found him. That seemed to be what his entire life was based around; luck. Lucky to have Kovu, lucky he wasn't killed, lucky he wasn't found by Malika or Teferi.
"When will my luck run out..?"

Its not everyday that you see a lone Outlander venturing so close to the Pridelands. Ever since the big war between the two prides, it seems things have slightly simmered down. Slightly. Well, on this day, Kibwe decided to go into the Middle Lands, seeing as she had nothing better to do. The pride had a more indolent attitude as of yet, and Kibwe didn't see the harm. The Lioness padded forth, flicking her tail behind her frame, and humming a low tune to herself. At first, she didn't notice that she had any company whatsoever. Kibwe was just in her own world, pleased that the sunshine was warming her fur. However, as she neared the Great River, her nose wrinkled visably. The female stopped dead in her tracks as she saw another lion, of which wasn't an Outlander. Kibwe reclined on her haunches and just watched from a safe distance away. A full grown male Lion could easily overpower a Lioness, though that didn't scare Kibwe a single bit. She was just wanting to see what this beast would do before she acted. If it was a fight that he wanted, then she would surely bring everything she had. Though if not, then perhaps she could be civil. It all depended on what he did first, and then Kibwe would surely make a move. For now though, patience was a virtue, and the sandy female would just have to wait.

Valerius Valerius heard movement and jumped to his paws. He looked out and saw a sandy coloured lioness standing still looking at him. He didn't recognize her, but then again, he didn't know any outlanders except for Malika and Teferi, and only those from his parents' descriptions of them. He wondered who she was and if she wanted a fight or not. He had never fought before, and he'd never been taught how to fight. He'd picked a few things up from watching the lionesses, but that's it. He really hoped it wouldn't come to a fight.
He took a step towards her, but realized that could be interpreted as hostile. He sat down on his haunches looking at her. He had always been told never to talk to an Outsider, to avoid them if possible. But he was curious, of course. He was young, of course he still had his curiosity.
Valerius noticed the tooth marks on her shoulder, wondering how she got them. He wanted to ask her, but wasn't sure if he would offend her. He wasn't sure of anything. Even though he got along well enough with the other lionesses in his pride, he didn't really..speak to them much. He was quiet, he never knew what to say. He knew he'd have to say something or the situation would turn weird very quickly.
"Uhm...hello. I'm Valerius. Who're you?"

The Outlander Lioness let a small smile etch her features as she watched the other Lion jump slightly fom her sudden appearance. She hadn't meant to scare him, although it was amusing that she did anyways. The sandy female gave a nod when Valerius introduced himself. So, he wasn't vicious to new Lions, that was a relief. "Greetings, I'm called Kibwe,"she said. The female shifted her weight on her paws in the meantime and curled her tassled tail around her frame. "I take it you belong to the Pridelanders, am I correct? I've never seen you on our lands,"she murmured, refering to the Outlands. Her golden yellow eyes drifted away from him for a brief moment, and then turned back after a short interval. They looked in the direction of her home, indicating where she'd come from.So far, this Lion seemed calm enough to converse with, but she was still going to keep an eye out incase things turned for the worst.

Valerius Valerius's eyes followed Kibwe's to the Outlands and he shivered. His curiosity intensified when he glanced at the forbidden lands again. He wanted to ask her if she could show him the outlands and see if he could remember anything. He knew he could get in severe trouble for that, not only by Teferi and Malika, but by Kovu as well.
He was happy that the lioness didn't seem angry or likely to attack him. He hoped she'd stay calm and civil.
"Yes, I am a..Pridelander. Though, I wasn't born in the Pridelands. or the Outlands for that matter. I..." he stopped abruptly.
If I tell her about Kovu and Kiara adopting me, she might not trust me..at all. And she might attack me.
He had to finish the sentence though, or he might sound suspicious. I...I've never been to the Outlands before. What are they like?

A furred brow, that belonged to Kibwe, raised at Valerius's answer and then lowered. She wasn't judgemental in the slightest though. It wasn't in Kibwe's character to judge someone else, without a valid reason. But if they gave her one, that was a completely different story. "I see," came the response. The innerworkings of Kibwe's mind were working diligently. So, he had come from some place farther than the Outlands. That was quite interesting, but explained why he hadn't got angry at her for coming from the Outlands. Speaking of which, he'd asked her about her homeland.
Kibwe was silent for a moment before answering. When her words came, they had a sort of far away tone to them as she envisioned her home. "I love my life in the Outlands, for the most part. I was born there, so I don't know any other life. My pride is pretty closeknit, though everyone has their spats occasionally. The worst parts are having limited food supplies, and being demeaned by an arrogant Pridelander. No offense." The Lioness looked at her paws as she said this. But her eyes found their way back upwards again. "Do you enjoy your life on Priderock? My pride is always trying to get on the throne, but none of us have ever experienced that except Scar."

Valerius "Thank the great spirit I didn't say the wrong thing..."
Valerius was surprised about Kibwe's answer. Everything he'd ever heard about the Outlands from Kovu was not good. He'd never heard anything positive. He realized that everything must be based on perspective; that's it. He wondered what else Kovu had told him without telling him both sides of the story.
"No offense taken...I don't blame you. Some of the Pridelanders..I just know what you mean." He tried to decide how to answer her question about his life on Priderock. He tried to remember who Scar was..Kovu nor Kiara had ever told him much about Scar except that he was an Outlander who tried to take the Pridelands. He'd never heard more to the story then that.
He decided to be honest about his life. Kibwe seemed nice enough.
"I was adopted by Kovu and Kiara. Kovu found me in the Outlands. Like I said, I'm not an Outlander, though. They took me in. I suppose I have a good life; it's better then my old one. I have food, water. But Kovu ignores me. He has that daughter of his, Riora, you know. He pays all his attention to her. Or he pays attention to the pride, or Riora. So I spend a lot of time by myself."
Valerius nervously flicked his tail from side to side. He wasn't sure how she would react to hearing he was the adopted kid of Kovu. Everyone in the Pridelands said that the Outlanders hated Kovu with a passion, not only for being king, but for being a 'traitor'.
"Scar...can you tell me about Scar?"

The Lioness let a small growl rumble in her throat. Most of the pride felt that Kovu had turned his back on them. It was all because he'd fallen in love with Kiara. Kibwe still harbored some hard feelings herself, though there was nothing she could do about it currently. She wasn't stupid, and admitting how she felt could get her in major trouble. But after she got it under control, she nodded her head in response. "That's a little bit understandable, he has a lot on his plate being the King and all. But he still has no excuse to ignore you like that. If he's your adoptive father, he still has a duty to his son. That's just as important as being King."
Kibwe flattened her ears on her head when Valerius mentioned Scar. "Well, he wasn't always evil. Scar and Mufasa were civil to each other until Mufasa found out he was going to be King. Then the little green monster called envy corrupted Scar. Then he became more distant and things just went downhill from there. He teamed up with those cursed Hyenas and thought nothing of killing his own brother. I don't know if he even had a heart." At this point, Kibwe was slightly ashamed to be an Outlander. Scar was such a disgrace, even for an Outlander. "That was part of the reason why I got this,"Kibwe said, motioning to her left side,"Hyenas." She unsheathed her claws momentarily before retracting them. If it was one thing that Kibwe hated, it was Hyenas.

Valerius Valerius flinched as he noticed Kibwe's obvious distaste at the mention of Kovu's name. He didn't blame her for hating Kovu, because any Outlander could see that what he'd done was disloyal to his pride. Of course, he could never admit that, because he'd most likely be ripped to shreds and exiled. A lonely home is better then no home.
"I don't think he really wanted to take me...it was Kiara that convinced him." He shrugged. He didn't really know what to say, again. Nothing new there.
He listened to the story of Scar, nodding occasionally. So that's what happened..he'd never known that that was what had happened.
Hyenas were another thing he didn't know a whole lot about. He'd never met any before. He realized for a lion who wasn't really a cub, he didn't know very much. He wanted to see more then the small world he was allowed to see. He didn't want to spend the rest of his life wondering what everything was like.
"I..I don't suppose you'd be able to show me the Outlands, would you?" he asked, trying not to stutter or sound too nervous. He knew the answer would be no. It was probably risky for Kibwe to even be seen talking to him, much less bringing him into the Outlands. Yet, he couldn't help but try to ask, and hope the answer would be yes. If it was no..well, he'd have to figure out another way to satisfy his curiosity.

The Lioness sighed softly, that was nice of Kiara. But that still didn't change how Kibwe felt about her. Kiara was the one responsible for taking their leader away. Now Teferi was in command of the Outlanders, along with his love Malika. How could Kibwe forgive Kiara so easily? "Maybe he'll come around eventually,"she said blinking, though one could never be for sure. Kovu had to like Valerius at least a little bit in order to adopt him. Or he was just a sucker for the things Kiara asked him to do. Kovu definately wasn't as coldhearted as his mother or Scar. They were a two of a kind.
The female tilted her head at Valerius's question. Her first instinct was to say no. She didn't want to be some tour guide to a Pridelander. If she was caught, they could say that she was turning her back on the pride too, like Kovu. She did not want that to happen. She could just hear it now. However, this male had been kind to Kibwe from the start, and he really didn't have anyone else to show him around. Perhaps things could be patched up between the prides. But that was risky, what happened if things went wrong? Kibwe crinkled her brows, trying to make up her mind. The sandy female stood to her paws. "Alright, but we are going to have to make this short and sweet, okay?" Kibwe said. She knew that she could be making the biggest mistake of her life, though Kibwe was always up for a challenge. She would just have to face the consequences of her actions, should it come to that.

Valerius Valerius was surprised that Kibwe had said yes. "Maybe Outlanders aren't as bad as they're made out to be.." He hoped they wouldn't run into any other Outlanders, especially not Malika. He had heard about what happened between Malika and Vitani, and knew that she's be in a terrible mood.
Still, he was excited to catch a glimpse of the Outlands. Short and sweet was better then nothing. And after this, maybe he'd be able to sneak into the Outlands to do more exploring. He was quick on his feet, and could escape if he had to.
"Thank you, so much. If anything happens...if Malika shows up or something, you can attack me, or start chasing me. That way she won't think anything of it."

The female Outlander nodded and laughed lightly. She thought it would be amusing to chase him around, just to please Malika for a short second. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that however. Maybe they could sneak Valerius in and out unnoticed. Flicking her tail behind her, Kibwe began to walk towards the Outlands. There was a slight limp to her stride, but one could only tell if they looked closely. It was nothing compared to what it was years ago. Before, Kibwe looked like a cripple, not the smooth Lioness that she was supposed to be. Her golden eyes held curiousity as she wondered what the male Lion would think, though she wasn't vocal about her thoughts. Compared to the Pridelands, the Outlands weren't very spectacular in appearance. Oh well, Kibwe would just have to wait and see. She gave an inward shrug and continued walking towards the lands of her birth.

Valerius followed after Kibwe, walking silently, picking his footing carefully based on what spots would make the least noise. He remembered how hostilely he'd reacted to Slythor's appearance at the Priderock, and Valerius wasn't even a king. He knew if Malika and Teferi caught him, they'd react much worse then that.
His eyes were desperate, longing to see the land that he was found in. He wondered if he would be able to recognize anything. Then he wondered if Kibwe had ever heard of the pride he came from..or of his mother.
[ooc// Yeah, we can make a new thread. Thats why this post is so short.
Kibwe & Valerius have left the area.]
